On 18 and 19 June 2024, the Committee of European Auditing Oversight Bodies (CEAOB) held its 25th plenary meeting that took place in Paris hosted by the H2A (Haute Autorité de l’Audit).
Main outcomes
The members adopted draft CEAOB non-binding guidelines on limited assurance on sustainability reporting for a one-month public consultation before the final approval intended for September 2024.
The members adopted the proposals prepared by the dedicated task force on criteria for observer at the CEAOB.
The members shared information about the state of play in the transposition of the CSRD and discussed the main features of the Wirecard related sanction.
Chair election
Mr Panos Prodromides has been elected as the new CEAOB Chairperson for a four-year term starting on 12 July 2024. Mr Prodromides will succeed Mr Parent, whose four-year terms will end at the same date.
Activities of the sub-groups
The members received an update on:
- the activities of the International Equivalence and Adequacy sub-group to support the cooperation between European and third country audit regulators.
- the recent activities and discussions held the Enforcement sub-group.
- the ongoing work streams of the International Auditing Standards sub-group as regards the activities of the international standards setters.
- the outcomes of the latest meeting held by the Inspections sub-group in Riga on 12 and 13 June 2024.
- the Market Monitoring sub-group activities, including preparatory work for the next market monitoring report.
Stakeholder outreach
As part of its stakeholder outreach activity the CEAOB invited the Chair of the EFRAG SR TEG, as well as representatives of the EBA, the European Contact Group (ECG) and ecoDa to discuss topics of common interest.
